KARACHI – The provincial public departments and courts have beefed up security in wake of sting operation performed by a private TV channel anchorperson Iqrarul Hassan.
The action of beefing up security is only for journalists and representatives of private televisions in Karachi. No journalist or member of any TV channel will be allowed to enter the premises of the government institutions without being physically searched for holding a weapon or any other unlawful contraband material.
The public offices that have initiated the process of security check-up of journalists are all key departments of the provincial government namely, Sindh Governor House, Sindh Chief Minister House, Sindh Assembly, Sindh Secretariat and Sindh High Court.
Authorities have made it clear to journalists to first get a security clearance at the entrance of the premise before entry. All journalists and related members were subjected to strict physical check-up on the first day of the new security policy on Saturday. They lined up for physical security check at different venues of key events held in the city.
It is pertinent to mention here that all passes issued to journalists have been cancelled on orders of Sindh Assembly Speaker Aga Siraj Khan Durrani.
